As a regular evening class student I always look forward to the yearly art exhibition held at the college. It brings together the works of students from a range of disciplines, not just pottery but also drawing, painting, photography and textiles.
Each year students display their work for all to see and college staff look at all the work and hand out a range of awards.
In 2016 I was delighted to have won an award for my work, I never expected to hear my name called out for a second year!
I entered several styles of items: jewellery, tealights and milk bottles. These are very different from the items I entered last year as I’ve been experimenting with combining my pottery with my drawing and painting.
There were some amazing items from other potters in my class so it’s a real thrill to have had my work chosen.
This has given me a real boost to want to continue improving in my pottery and further experimenting with combining all my artistic disciplines into a single item.
If you’re considering taking a class I highly recommend it. Not only does it help you learn more about your chosen craft, it’s also a fantastic way to meet new people and gain new inspiration from fellow artists.
